CDM Smith is seeking an intermediate communicator to drive our Technical Services Unit communications and practice growth strategies. The communications team supports our technical practice and discipline leaders, promotes our technical experts, and contributes to the firm’s leading market position.

Responsibilities

• Support practice leaders and technical experts in developing market strategies, presentations, marketing materials, thought leadership articles, and assisting with conference-related activities

• Research, interview, write, edit, and publish engaging content for marketing materials, presentations, and unit- or group-wide internal communication messages

• Translate technical content from sources, conduct interviews, and synthesize the data into communications materials

• Contribute to the development and execution of marketing and communications plans for group or unit programs

• Coordinate with individuals around the globe to enhance communications, share in what we do, and connect people across the regions and markets

• Collaborate as a member of a communications team including mentoring junior team members

• Contribute to the firm’s database of marketing materials including resumes, qualifications, fact sheets and other materials

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.

• 2 years of related experience.

• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AEC experience

• Transportation industry experience

Skills and Abilities:

• Intermediate knowledge of all communications platforms.

• Intermediate ability to research technical information from background sources, conduct interviews, and synthesize the data into communication materials.

• Intermediate ability to provide or construct marketing materials with appropriate style, grammar, and proper English syntax.

• Intermediate ability to work collaboratively as a member of a communications team in preparing print materials, audio-visual presentations, and web-based communications.

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Advanced written and oral communications skills.

• Advanced ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as digital channel platforms.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
