CDM Smith's NC team is seeking a candidate to conduct bridge safety inspections throughout the State of North Carolina under our existing contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
-The Bridge Inspector II will work under the supervision of a Bridge Inspection Team Lead and will spend the majority of their time in the field conducting inspections.
-The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with an interest in pursuing a career in bridge inspections and with a desire to progress toward being an inspection team lead.
-Work will require a willingness and ability to travel, documenting damage and wear on structures, use of laptop to prepare inspection reports, heavy lifting, and climbing ladders
-Works as a member of a two-man team to inspect bridges in NC.
-Performs bridge inspections according to the requirements stipulated in the North Carolina Bridge Inspection Manual.
-Reviews prior inspection reports in preparation for upcoming inspections.
-Documents inspection findings in bridge inspection reports.
-Participates in the quality review process for bridge inspection reports.
Bridge Inspector II
CDM Smith Employment Type:
-Associates of Science degree in Engineering or related field.
-5+ years' of experience in bridge inspections.
-Must possess a valid driver’s license.
-Work requires the ability to take photographs and measurements while in the field; majority of time working in an outdoor environment; skill in the use of office equipment such as computers and calculators; ability to read, interpret and explain bridge inspection reports; review and prepare reports; communication skills and ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
-Successful completion of the FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course within the last 60 months.
