Job Description:

CDM Smith has an exciting opportunity for our National Transportation Director. This position will be responsible for:

Leading our National Transportation Group’s sales team to achieve profitable growth inline with our short and long term growth strategies and market opportunities.

Leading our National Transportation Group’s P&L and all operational elements, including project delivery capabilities while providing an exceptional client experience through quality project delivery.

This position will report to the North American Unit President and will work closely with our Technical Unit.

The successful candidate will:

Develops and implements the long-term strategic sales plan for the National Transportation Group in order to achieve the firm’s strategic growth goals.

Routinely assesses the market in order to review, approve, monitor and perform corrective actions as necessary on subordinate sales management’s annual sales plan including volume, type of service, and selected clients.

Ensures all team member’s pursuits and proposals following the sales process (e.g., WINS), and receives appropriate sign-off (per sales process policies), including risk management committee (RMC) approval, before presenting proposals to the client.

On high enterprise risk or strategically important projects, performs regular check-ins with the client to determine client satisfaction. Based on client feedback, ensures collaboration with the delivery team to adjust project delivery approach, team and/or other related aspects of the project.

Responsible for ensuring alignment between sales pursuit financial/profit targets and business unit’s financial/profit targets.

Reviews and manages firms risk related to proposal contract language as part of review process and ensures that risk and associated profitability are balanced in proposal submissions.

Lead, coach, develop, and mentor the National Transportation Group.

Collaborates with financial leads to develop forecasting, budgeting and resource management.

Drive P&L performance through revenue, profitability, and cash management to meet or exceed budgeted values.

Evaluates the overall project management compliance with the firm’s risk management policies and procedures and requirements.

Develops and implements critical contracting strategies to maximize the firm’s position and reputation as well as financial performance.

Manage the Contract Execution and Project Delivery Process.

Foster effective and constructive communication of successes and failures (i.e., lessons learned).

Instill the values of work product quality and client satisfaction throughout the West Group's Delivery Team.

Champion the business case for change

The successful candidate must have definitive experience and a proven track record with strategic planning and the ability to architect and execute a national transportation business/sales plan and market strategy for a major transportation services engineering and construction firm.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

May be required to relocate to support business needs. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated success leading business development

organizations and P&L at a minimum of $200M

• Master’s degree in Engineering

• MBA

• Multi-state PE registrations

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
